PITTSBURGH (FFD) - So yesterday was a really fun packed-to-the-hilt, reward meal window on intermittent fasting (For newbs: reward meal is the 4-hour eating window I have after fasting for 20 hours on the intermittent fasting 20-4 protocol).
Let’s take a look at what I did.
I stopped in at the Wheelfish and had some fish tacos and a baked potato. Both were delicious. I was only there about an hour and after chatting with the locals, I had to leave to take my daughter to the homecoming football game.
After I dropped her off, I got a call from a friend of mine that wanted to know if I could give him a lift to the Highland Bar. You don’t drop a friend off at the Highland without stopping in yourself.
So there I was on a fall temperate day Driving around the North Hills of Pittsburgh in Big Foot Hunter, my Willy Wheeler’s Jeep. I even had the little top flipped down.
I picked up my body and we hit the Highland Bar for a couple beers. It was a very lively evening at the Highland but I couldn’t stay long. I had to go get my son and take him to the football game.
Unfortunately our local high school team, North Hills high school, really got crushed by Gateway High School. I got a text from daughter that they were losing 19-0 in the first quarter. Ouch.
There was a time when North Hills High School was one of the best programs in the nation. I was a sophomore on a team that was number one in the country back in 1987. We had the USA Today High School Defensive Player of Year on our team, Erick Renke was his name (For those of you who care… His career never took off at Penn State due to injuries). Years later, LaVar Arrington would play his ball at North Hills. Years earlier, Make Kelso of four losing Super Bowl fame with the Buffalo Bills, would tackle for the Indians. Therefore, seeing them get crushed 19-0 in a one quarter, is a tough pill to swallow.
Times have certainly changed in the program isn’t what it used to be. But one thing that hasn’t changed is that Friday is for high school football And here’s hoping that never changes, despite those college games that are creeping up on Friday.
Now back to intermittent fasting. I had a hot dog and pretzel during the game with a minute to spare, when my eating window expired. When it did, boom, done. Next fast begins.
In football news, I don’t have much to look forward too.
My Steelers are on Monday Night Football this week and while I wonder how many people across the nation can’t wait to watch the 0-3 Bengals take on the 0-3 Steelers, I will remind myself that it is a long season.
I happen to think that the AFC North is totally wide-open and that despite the Steelers whiffing on the first three games—until they lose to the Bengals, Browns and Ravens, anything can happen.
I do think the Steelers can beat all of those teams. we shall see Monday.
On that note, it is Saturday morning and I’m getting ready to do yard work all day. The weather calls for intermittent rain, and my Football Fan’s Diet Daily Gameday Objective calls for another day of intermittent fasting. The ref just spotted the ball. Saturday is here and it is time to get some things done so I can enjoy that football on Sunday—and hopefully Monday Night too.
