Working from home can be boring

PITTSBURGH (FFD) - So things have been going steady and predictable for the past week or so. I have largely been working from home in my office as I balance my work as a technical writer with my aspirations to write a book and produce websites with interesting content, of which this site is one such example.

The hardest part about working from home is getting a shower in the morning. However, once I do that, then I tend to be much more professional.

So once again, productivity comes down to routine. This has been a theme of mine lately: Excellence Is A Routine. This would be the sign I hang above the corridor that leads to the football field.

Knocked out 30 on the elliptical in the morning….

Knocked out 30 on the elliptical in the morning….

I should hang it in my home office—above the door.

If I want to be excellent at anything, no matter what it is, intermittent fasting or just being good at what I do, I need a routine that can support that and that is what I have been working on lately.

For two weeks now I’ve been sticking to a list that includes a morning routine of stretching, meditating, and not yelling about anything but focusing on what needs to be done. That has gone well and I am getting things done but I still have those bouts where I zone out and I am totally unfocused for like an hour or so.

It seems I do that more when working from home. Sometimes the noise of Starbucks helps me focus. Does that make sense?

Focus requires practice time. Each day I am trying to get more and more focused on what I need to do. Yesterday, was a great day. I knocked out everything on list at the coffee shop. But, this morning, the routine was broken.

I didn’t feel as productive in the morning and zoned out. Yes, I got a workout in there… But, I need to be better focused if I want to win the Super Bowl of Health and reach my others goals too.

So I need to totally eliminate zone outs and that is proving difficult. Still, I pound through my to do list, my game plan for the day, come hell or high water, which is based on the goals I want to complete in life.

Another day. Another TD. I’ll take it, but I know I can do much, much better. Well, new play about to begin…

So I am giving myself a touchdown each day I successfully do intermittent fasting 20-4. Learn more about this diet here…
