Scoring update: One of the best healthy weekends in a while on intermittent fasting

PITTSBURGH (FFD) - The past June weekend went by in a blur. I have some really good news to report in that I finally—and I can’t emphasize that word enough, finally—cracked the f’n 280s. That is cause for jubilation.

Scratch has been hitting his Daily Gameday Objective consistently.Friday, Saturday, and Sunday were some of the most healthy weekend days he can remember.

I recall this past Thursday when I was about to throw the towel in on counting calories and say, F’it. Mentally, I did do just that and committed to doing the Warrior’s Diet version of the 20-4 intermittent fasting method.

Scratch has been killing it at the gym, the yard, the pool.

However, something funny happened to me on the way to the gym that night—I didn’t care about the scale and turned in a solid performance on Friday. I was shocked after the Friday workout that, at long last, I achieved that milestone of the 280s. This released a lot of pent up frustration. I felt great. A sense a pride came over me when I think about how I would work my tail off only to see the scale stay at 290.
It should be noted that three days of beer may be the one weakness NOT highlighted in all of Scratch’s grandstanding and patting himself on the back this week.

Lo and behold, counting calories does work in conjunction with intermittent fasting 20/4 but it is really hard not to become obsessive about numbers. On the one hand, data is good. You can draw great insights from data. However, when the data is generated by your plate and exercise—it is easy to get emotionally tied up in it.

All in all, the past week was bizarre. I hung on to my plan by a shoestring, Monday through Thursday. After I hit the milestone, Friday thru Sunday where the most inspired weekend days yet (yes, I count Friday evening as part of the weekend).

Here I am on Monday. It is a new week and I refuse to obsess about the next milestone right now (but, I probably will). The next pounds I drop will render me at a weight I have not been packaged in for at least five years—the 270s. Here I come you f’n SOB 270s. I’m going hard until I knock your dork in the dirt down to the 260s.
