PITTSBURGH (FFD) - Yesterday I hit the Highland Bar in West View, Pa. for a couple beers to catch some of the Thursday Night NFL football game between the Rams and Vikings.
It was good game—and a good healthy night, sort of.
The bar was smoky that night, but jovial and friendly. I was hungry for sure and it was later in the evening and one of my favorite bar tenders was working too. Two neighborhood chums were there, which encouraged me to stop down in the first place.
The Hiland Bar is a classic neighborhood haunt. It mostly caters to working class folks, but it does draw a fairly good mix of folks too. The beer is priced right and cold and the food is a good price for what you get.
In fact, yesterday they had 8 buck steak dinner night. You get a some kind of NY sirloin strip with two sides for 8 bucks. That is not a bad deal. I went with the Quesadilla. It contained at least grilled chicken.
Moreover, during the span of several hours, I had a very modest amount of beer - for real too. I’ll take it.
After two days of losing I was really worried that the foul mouthed Coach Corksoaker was going to change my Daily Gameday Objective (DGO). He didn’t.
However, he did make it tougher. He ruled out an infraction of the intermittent fasting approach he refers to as “double eating”.
Eating a meal on the way home and then having another one like the first one never existed. That is true to the Warrior’s Diet and it will no longer be true to the Football Fan’s Diet.
Well, it is Friday and that is always a challenge. However, I am up for it. I just got the ball. I am on offense. Time to break huddle and go get a score.
Happy Friday and be safe you fat freaks.
