On The Football Fan's Diet, you award yourself Touchdowns (e.g., 7 points - extra point is automatic) for doing healthy things, which you establish as a scoring system to help move you toward "The Super Bowl of Health" - whatever that might be for you - and away from a super bowl of, say, mashed potatoes or, perhaps, some other culinary entity of something that makes you a big fat tubby. Those so-called healthy things are limited to your imagination. You could give yourself a TD for not smoking on anyone particular day. You could give yourself a TD for simply refraining from some behavior which you are trying to kick for good.

On The Football Fan's Diet, you optionally award yourself Field goals (e.g., 3 points) for doing smaller healthy things, which you establish as part of your scoring system, all of which is designed to help move you toward "The Super Bowl of Health". On my version of the Football Fan's Diet, I give myself 3 points for every time I exercise at the gym. Conversely, I give my "Fat Butt" 3 points on days I drink beer. In fact, I have this personal challenge of seeing how many days I can go without having a beer. Not sure how many winning days I strung together, but it is not more than a week. It is a record I should probably try to break.
